Good Fruit

So I have this friend who just discovered pomegranates...The kid pretty much lives pomegranates now. Can't go a day without at least one. Can't stop talking about them. He's like the ambassador of pomegranates, sharing his love of them with everyone he knows. I find this very cool because a) Pomegranates are great, and b) There's something so right about enjoying the fruit of the season.

I feel like this is God's message for me these days. Summer may be over, yes, but life's winter bears a fruit all its own. Will I trust Him to sustain me with the fruit of whatever season I'm in? Will I rejoice in it...knowing that the season will pass and I may not always be able to enjoy the particular blessings that it brings? Friendship, creativity, free time, special lessons...God, help me to trust and rejoice in Your provision for each season, and to share the fruit of it with others. Help me never to waste or complain or wish for whatever is not in season for me.

I'll add c) It is wonderful to see someone discover something you have loved for a long time.

Good post, ed.

Yes Lance, I'm afraid so. Thanks for the tear...At least, I think it's a tear.

Yes, it's a tear, and as you can see it's a super long tear. I'm curious as to why, but I'll ask you later. I'm sure you had your reasons.

Yeah...I shed a super long tear over the good-bye as well. And as for the reason, well...what do you call it when you wake up and can't wait to see someone each morning...say hello to them at day's end...and greet them a thousand times in between? When you spend hours on end with them and send them photographs of every stage of your life? Being in love? I guess that's it. I fell in love with flickr and I had to let go. Well, that...and my computer was being super annoying. (No offense, computer). I think there's a novel in there somewhere, and now I just might have time to write it.

"Just following doctor's orders. I've decided to become a mensch. Do you know what that means? A human being."--Jack Lemmon in The Apartment, which the whole world needs to see.

Maybe you can pick it up again safely someday... Good luck with your nanowrimo efforts. I admire you and Beth for taking it on.

Yesterday, I ran across something interesting attributed to Ernest Hemingway. He bet some friends that he could write a novel in just six words. They took the bet and this is what he wrote:

For sale: baby shoes, never used.

That's pretty brilliant, I think.

The Apartment is a fantastic movie. I'm sure you are the reason I watched it! By the way, this is a great post. You should repost it somewhere.
